About Mark Fischer

Mark A. Fischer is the owner, acting manager, CEO and chairman of managers of the Board of Pointe Vista Development, LLC.  Pointe Vista was formed in 2008 under his direction to develop a premier master planned regional destination resort community. For the past 9 years, he has fostered the growth and overseen Ponte Vista in the acquisition of land and amenity assets to achieve the original objective.   


As a brief history of Mr. Fischer’s background, he graduated from Texas A&M University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree with honors in Aerospace Engineering.  He began his career with Humble Oil Company, now Exxon Company USA, where he held various engineering and supervisory positions. From 1977 until 1988, Mr. Fischer served as operations manager for TXO Production Corp. and for Slawson Exploration Company.  In 1988, Mark founded Chaparral Energy, Inc. as a privately held independent oil and gas production and exploration company with headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from its inception until his retirement in January 2017.  The company at its peak in 2014, operated in 13 states, had an employee base of just under 800 people, annual revenue of $800 million and an enterprise valuation of $3.5 billion.  Chaparral Energy, under Mr. Fischer’s guidance, was recognized as one of the fastest growing companies and has been an Oklahoma City Metro 50 award winner 8 times and Texas A&M Aggie 100 Award Winner 4 times.  In 2012, Mark was a national finalist for the Ernest and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  He is a recipient of both the Aerospace Department Distinguished Alumnus Award and the College of Engineering Outstanding Alumni Award from Texas A&M University in 2014.  Mr. Fischer is the benefactor and sponsor of the Texas A&M CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery Research Facility.  He is the sole owner and Chairman of the Board of SuMark Pharmacies, Dippin’ Dots Holding, LLC, and Doc Popcorn, LLC.   He has sat on several non-profit organization boards including the Boy Scouts of America and was a regional director of the American Petroleum Institute. He is currently serving on the Texas A&M Look College of Engineering Advisory Council and will Chair the Board of the Association of Former Students for Texas A&M University in 2019.  Mr. Fischer is a member of the Texas A&M Legacy Society, the Eppright Distinguished Donors program, the Diamond Champions Council and is currently serving as a campaign chairman for the Texas A&M University $4.0 billion “Lead by Example” comprehensive campaign.
